What a template is
A template defines:
- A name used in the Run Scenarios Template dropdown
- Optional product scope (default, category, symbol, sector, and so on)
- How price is slid (**Percent**, Price, or StDev)
- Price scenarios (up/down shock lists)
- Optional Vol scenarios (percent shocks)
- Optional expiration / month range filters for some product types
When you run a slide, Rival Risk applies that shock grid to the positions in scope.

The grid lists templates and scenario values.

Template form fields
Template Name
Required. Shown in Run Scenarios as the template choice.
Cannot be renamed in the edit form (name is disabled when editing).
Product Type
| Value | Typical use |
|---|---|
| *** DEFAULT *** | Template-wide default (no specific symbol) |
| Category | Product category from the category list |
| Future Chain | Futures root / chain (for example ES) |
| Future Ticker | Specific future ticker |
| Stock Symbol | Equity underlying (for example AAPL) |
| Equity Sector | Sector from the sector list |
| Equity Market Cap | Market-cap bucket |
| Index | Index symbol (for example SPX) |
| Fixed Income | Fixed income identifier |
When Product Type is not Default, a required symbol/category field appears. The label and help text change with the product type (for example Select Category, ticker entry, and so on).
Expiration / month range (when available)
For product types that support it:
- All Expirations — include all
- Or clear All Expirations and set From / To
- Help text explains whether values mean underlying month (front month, 2nd month, …) or days to expiration
Copy Scenario
To reuse shocks from another template:
1. Choose a template under Copy Scenario (or leave *** NONE ***).
2. Click Copy.
3. Review the filled price/vol fields, then Add / Update.
Slide Price By
| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Percent | Price shocks are percent moves (fields show %) |
| Price | Price shocks are absolute price amounts |
| StDev | Price shocks are in standard-deviation units |
Price and vol scenarios
Both Price scenarios and Vol scenarios use the same shock editor.
Fill helpers
- Increment — step size used by Fill
- Steps — how many up values to generate (up to 8)
- Fill — fills the Up slots from increment × 1…N
Defaults differ:
- Price Fill defaults: increment 1, steps 8
- Vol Fill defaults: increment 25, steps 8
Up values
Enter up to 8 shock values in the Up row.
Down values
Choose how down shocks relate to up:
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Opposite of up | Down is the sign-reversed up list (locked) |
| Same as up | Down matches up (locked) |
| Enter down values | Enter a custom down list |
Vol scenarios note
Vol shocks are optional. When used, a vol shock is a parallel shift applied by multiplying current vol by the vol shock percent (as shown in the form hint).

Delete a template
1. In the grid, click the delete control on the template row (first column).
2. Confirm when the server prompts.
3. Or select the row/cell and press Delete if that path is enabled for your selection.
Deleting a template removes it from future Run Scenarios picks. Existing saved runs are not automatically re-run.
