Alert Setup has three main areas

1. Toolbar — Add New and other page actions

2. Alerts grid (top) — saved alert definitions

3. Alert log pane (bottom) — recent firings; subtitle: Double-click a row to investigate

Drag the splitter between the alerts grid and the log pane to resize them.

Alerts list

The Alerts grid lists saved alerts (name, enabled state, and other columns provided by your environment).

Common actions:

| Action | How |

|---|---|

| Create | Click Add New |

| Edit | Double-click an alert row |

| Investigate a firing | In the log pane, double-click a log row |

| Filter / sort / columns | Same grid tools as elsewhere — see [Working with Grids](#) |

> Tip: You can also start an alert from Market Risk. Apply numeric column filters, then click Alert on the filter badge. Alert Setup opens with trigger conditions prefilled when possible.

> Screenshot: Alerts grid with Add New in the toolbar.

Create a new alert (7-step wizard)

1. Click Add New.

2. The wizard opens as Add New Alert.

3. Complete steps 1–7 using Next / Back.

4. On step 7, review the summary and click Save Alert.

5. Click Cancel anytime to close without saving.

While creating a new alert, use Next / Back to move in order. When editing an existing alert, you can click a step in the step rail to jump directly to that step.

Wizard steps

| Step | Label | Purpose |

|---|---|---|

| 1 | Basic | Name, enable, severity/colors, active hours |

| 2 | Account | Evaluation level and which accounts to watch |

| 3 | Trigger | When the alert should fire |

| 4 | Reset | Optional conditions to clear/reset the alert |

| 5 | Product | Which products/symbols and contract types |

| 6 | Notify | Email on trigger/reset and distribution list |

| 7 | Summary | Review and save |

> Screenshot: Wizard step rail (Basic → Summary).

Step 1 — Basic

Heading: Basic Information

Set:

1. Alert Name (required) — descriptive name

2. Enable this alert — on/off toggle

3. Severity & Colors

   - Severity: Low, Medium, High, or Critical

   - Color pickers for Low, Medium, High, and Critical (group palette used when the alert fires)

4. Active Time Range

   - Start Time and Stop Time

   - The alert is only active during this window

> Screenshot: Basic Information with name, enable, severity, and time range.

Step 2 — Account

Heading: Account Selection

1. Check values at this level — where totals are evaluated:

   - Firm

   - Master/Office

   - Trading Group

   - Portfolio

2. Select Accounts — use the account tree

   - Leave all selected to monitor all accounts

   - Or narrow to specific nodes

Choose an evaluation level that matches how you think about the risk (firm-wide vs portfolio-level).

> Screenshot: Account Selection with level dropdown and account tree.

Step 3 — Trigger

Heading: When should this alert trigger?

You can add up to five conditions.

1. Under Match, choose:

   - All conditions — every condition must be true (AND)

   - Any condition — one matching condition is enough (OR)

2. For each Condition card:

   - Choose a Data column

   - Choose an operator:

     - < Less Than

     - > Greater Than

     - ↔ Between

     - ≠ Outside

   - Enter the value (or min/max for Between / Outside)

3. Click Add condition to add another card (up to five).

4. Click Remove on a card to delete it (at least one trigger condition remains).

If you opened Alert Setup from Market Risk filters, a banner may explain that trigger conditions were prefilled—review them before continuing.

> Screenshot: Trigger step with All/Any match and condition cards.

Step 4 — Reset

Heading: Reset Conditions

Reset controls when a fired alert can clear so it can fire again later.

1. Toggle Allow alert to Reset?

2. If enabled, set a reset condition for each paired trigger

   - Each reset uses the same data column as its trigger (column is locked)

   - Choose operator and values the same way as triggers

3. If reset is off, reset condition cards are dimmed and ignored

> Note: Email on reset (Notify step) is only available when reset is allowed.

> Screenshot: Reset step with Allow alert to Reset enabled.

Step 5 — Product

Heading: Which products should this alert watch?

An Applies to summary at the top updates as you change options.

Scope

Choose one:

| Option | Use when |

|---|---|

| By category | Pick product groups from the Product categories tree (for example grains or indexes) |

| By symbol | Type specific symbols |

By symbol fields:

- Futures base symbols — example: ES:CME, CL:NYMEX (comma-separated; base and exchange separated by a colon when needed)

- Stocks / underlyings / CUSIPs — example: AAPL, MSFT

Leave both symbol lists blank to include all symbols.

Contract types

Under Include, select at least one:

- Equities

- Futures

- Options

You cannot continue without at least one contract type.

How the alert fires

Optional / advanced product behavior:

1. Only include if contract expires in N days or less — toggle and enter days

2. Combine positions?

   - Combine across symbols — one aggregate value for the whole selection (for example total delta)

   - Separate per symbol — evaluate each underlying on its own

For more detail on aggregate vs per-symbol behavior, see [Symbol Specific Alerts](#).

> Screenshot: Product step showing By category / By symbol, contract types, and Combine positions.

Step 6 — Notify

Heading: Notification Settings

1. Send email if alert Triggers — on/off

2. Send email if alert Resets — on/off

   - Only available when Allow alert to Reset? is enabled on the Reset step

3. Who should be notified?

   - Choose [Owner] or a distribution list from the dropdown

4. Recipients — read-only addresses resolved from the selected list

> Screenshot: Notification Settings with trigger/reset email toggles and distribution list.

Step 7 — Summary

Heading: Review & Confirm

Check the summary before saving:

- Alert Name

- Status (Enabled / Disabled)

- Triggers (match all/any + condition list)

- Reset (conditions or Off)

- Account Filter

- Product Filter

- Notifications

Click Save Alert to store the definition.

On this step, Save Alert is the primary action. While editing, Save Alert is also available on earlier steps.

> Screenshot: Review & Confirm summary with Save Alert.

Edit an existing alert

1. In the Alerts grid, double-click the alert row.

2. The wizard opens as Edit Alert, ID = … with values loaded.

3. Click a step in the step rail to jump directly (edit mode only).

4. Make changes.

5. Click Save Alert.

6. Or click Cancel to discard.

> Screenshot: Edit Alert wizard with step rail navigation.

Enable or disable an alert

1. Open the alert (double-click) or create a new one.

2. On Basic, set Enable this alert on or off.

3. Save the alert.

A disabled alert remains in the list but does not actively monitor until you enable it again.

Delete an alert

1. Open the alert for editing.

2. Click Delete.

3. Confirm when prompted.

Deletion is permanent for that alert definition. Historical log rows may still appear in the log pane depending on server retention.

> Screenshot: Delete confirmation on an edit form.

Investigate alert activity

From the log pane on Alert Setup

1. Find a row in the bottom log pane.

2. Double-click the row (*Double-click a row to investigate*).

3. Alert Investigation opens (often in its dedicated window/tab) with that log linked.

From the sidebar

Go to Alerts → Alert Investigation to browse and link logs without starting from Setup.

Full workflow: [Alert Investigation](#).

> Screenshot: Log pane with investigate subtitle; Investigation page after double-click.

Create an alert from Market Risk

1. On a Market Risk view, apply numeric column filters that define the condition.

2. On the filter badge, click Alert (shown when the filters can seed an alert).

3. Alert Setup opens with trigger details prefilled when possible.

4. Complete Account, Product, Notify, and Summary.

5. Save.

This is the fastest path from “I see it in the grid” to “watch it continuously.”

> Screenshot: Market Risk filter badge with Alert, then Alert Setup trigger step.

Validation checklist

The wizard blocks Next / save when required pieces are missing:

| Step | Requirement |

|---|---|

| Basic | Alert name is required |

| Trigger | Each condition needs a complete operator and value(s) |

| Reset | If reset is enabled, reset conditions must be complete |

| Product | Select at least one contract type (Equities, Futures, or Options) |

Also confirm:

- Sidebar status is Connected before saving

- Active time range matches when you want monitoring

- Account level and product scope match the risk you intend to watch

- Notify recipients are correct before enabling email

Practical examples

Firm delta guardrail

1. Add New

2. Basic: name it, set severity High, enable it

3. Account: level = Firm, all accounts

4. Trigger: All conditions → Delta > Greater Than your limit

5. Reset: optional reverse threshold

6. Product: By category or all symbols; include Options (and others as needed); Combine across symbols

7. Notify: email on trigger to your distribution list

8. Save

Single-name risk

1. Product → By symbol → enter the underlying

2. Choose Separate per symbol

3. Set trigger on the measure you care about

4. Save and keep enabled during the active time range

Troubleshooting

| Symptom | What to try |

|---|---|

| Cannot click Next on Basic | Enter an Alert Name |

| Trigger/reset error on Next | Complete operator and value(s) on every enabled condition |

| Product step error | Select at least one of Equities / Futures / Options |

| Reset email disabled | Enable Allow alert to Reset? on the Reset step |

| Save does nothing / fails | Confirm sidebar shows Connected |

| Double-click does not edit | Wait for the grid to finish loading; try again when Connected |

| No Alert button on Market Risk badge | Use numeric filters the alert builder can import, or create manually with Add New |
